Solo Yolo Taiwan Trip Tips Prior to / Upon Arrival

TIP No 1:
For those travelling for the first time to Taipei, please get a sim card with unlimited data plan! For a 10-day plan, I think it costs around NT 500 to 600.

I landed at Taoyuan Terminal 2 and that means Telco only opens at 8am!

There are many telco companies just next to each other. Take your pick, choose the one that caters to you most.

Do also note that telco service will only cut off by 10am the next day.

My trip was 11 days and my flight out was at 8pm.

So i chose the 10 days package, and top up for an additional day at NT100.

TIP No 2:

The exchange rates in Taiwan is actually better!

I went there in September and the SGD / TWD exchange rate was not favourable to Singapore as compared to previous years.

The rate I have exchanged at Aracde was around 21.75, but look at the rate in Taiwan! 22 and above! And the best part is, they only charge around NT 30 transaction fees.

TIP No 3:

If you are going on a free and easy tour, be sure to check out the goodies the good people from Taiwan Tourism Bureau are giving!

You can actually email them at "tbrocsin@singnet.com.sg to see what they are giving.

I was eligible to redeem this one-way bus voucher  to Taipei, as well as a free MRT ride in Kaohsiung, since I showed proof that I was going to tour that area.

Free bus ride on board Kuo Kwang 國光客運 1819

The bus ride costs around NT130, if one were to purchase the ticket directly. It was worth every penny as stated in my earlier post: Why Kuo Kwang Buses are good

Also, do email the Tourism Bureau to see what free gifts they are giving! There was once I got the EZ-Link card (悠游卡) as well.

Taiwan Tourism Bureau is located at 30 Raffles Place, #10-01 Chevron House, Singapore 048622. Phone number: +65 6223 6546. Take note that it opens from 9am to 5pm, and so you may have to plan to go during lunch!
