Malaysia Sungai Lembing Trekking 28th June 13 to 30th June 13

I don't know how I got to know about this trip organized by NUS Rovers. So basically, I asked Jodie and she was keen. And I needed a trip to destress before my birthday, because I will be thrown into that abyss and I will be on the brink of tears every single day of that week :'( sounds very pitiful? Yeah I felt terrible for that whole week, and it was my birthday week :'( hahahaha. okay stop the drama, back to the topic.

Rainbow Falls Trekking Trip

Initially I wanted a more challenging experience, but that would mean I need to take 5 days worth of leave. Wanted to save my leave for cash so nah, just took one day's off for this 3 days event.

Jodie and I reached surprisingly earlier than expected, like one hour before the official time. We slacked around while we waited for everything to begin.

And so, the bus was late. We waited for 2 hours in total and finally we made our way!

Throughout the journey, Jodie kept wanting to talk. And I just wanted to sleep. Hahaha. It was a whopping 7 hour journey on bus! The bus driver must be superb. I fell asleep so many times. It was during the last leg of the journey did it start to rain heavily. I was so worried but thankfully we all made it alive to the destination.

The whole house was rented for us, and rooms were assigned to us. Rain had stopped. Yay.

We went to explore around a little.

There is this tree house right at the end of the main house. But for convenience reasons, no one was assigned that room.

Cute right? So kampung style! Hahaha. The toilet bowl especially hahaha.

The room Jodie and I was assigned to.

Pretty small. But it was enough :)

Then we went to the back of the house where a lake flows.

After which, it was time for dinner!

It was something like a buffet. Haha. Didn't take photos of the food.

This was followed by a short self-introduction and we were off to bed!

Again, Jodie wanted to talk hahaha but in the end I think I managed to convince her to sleep because we need to wake up really early the next day hahaha.

Rainbow Falls Trekking

I think we woke up at 4am or around there. Tried their famous Yong Tau Foo. Haha. I basically just kept putting food into my bowl and it ended up costing like 5 plus ringitt, while Jodie's costs half. And I finished every single bit but Jodie had leftovers hehehe.

We all requested to sit at the back of our four-wheel drive and boy was it refreshing hohoho.

Jerky ride throughout.

And off we trek. Terrain is still pretty manageable.

And then we reached the top! There were 2 rainbows that will come out at different timings. I think I missed the first one as it was a rather small one at the bottom.

It was raining and so the rainbows were not very obvious intially. Our guides up there provided us with maggi noodles as well as hot drinks. Very warming as we were made to swim to the other side where the rainbow is in this chilly weather.

So, I thought all the guides were the same. When I gave my consumed cup noodles to a guide for him to help me throw, he seemed pissed. Asked if he looked like a rubbish bin. Dots lo. You are not my guide then say so la. So worked up for what.

So, after the rainbow falls trek, the tour leader brought the whole group round the island for an introduction. We cycled all the way in one single file. Pretty cool. I felt so carefree hahaha.

This is the place where they filmed Kampung Ties! Haha.

These houses attract swallows to get birds' nest!

We also passed by a cemetery.

What a nice, small and quiet village.

We decided to do a jump shot! Vance said he couldn't jump. Liar. Both he and YC can jump so high up.

And also to the museum!

After which, it was free and easy time.

It was raining and the tour leader da bao back dinner for us. After which, there were bonding games and alcohol passed. Then Jodie and I decided to walk around the town. Went into this small tea house and drank tea off from a bowl. We also had tea leaf eggs haha.

Free wifi access here. Haha. Then we got back. I went straight to bed while the chatty Jodie played card games with the group haha.

Bukit Panorama

We were told that we would be woken up at 4am for the trek. We could see sunrise on top of a mountain. I was really looking forward to it! Previously I have tried to catch the sunrise for 2 times, first of which I fell asleep right in front of the sunrise. Then on my 19th birthday, I was not shaken up to watch the sunrise :) So this was special to me!

However, God knows, it rained really heavily in the morning. Trek was cancelled. Aw well. I was really sleepy. Continued sleeping until around 7am. We woke up for breakfast.

Their famous local niang tofu.

Had this wonton mee. I requested for more chili.

After breakfast, I told them that I want to climb. I just cannot take it lying down having come here and not climbed all the mountains haha. Jodie of course chose to accompany me :D :D :D :D Truly my hao peng you! The guys were nice. They said they would not let us do it alone. So the 4 of us made our way. :D

Damn tiring can. Whoa 1000 steps up is no joke.

And then, the peak!

So regretful of wearing my SR short. Haha.

Thankful to have all of your company :) Hope we can go on another trek again.

So after this, we basically went back and washed up. And then it's time back to sunny old Singapore! Back to reality a few hours later. And the beginning of my most dreaded week. Sians.

Signing off,
Sarah
