Taiwan Trip 2 20th March 13 to 26th March 13; Day 5: Shi Fen 十分, Shilin Night Market 士林夜市

Day 5 marks the second last day!

We took the train from Songshan Train Station I think and travelled all the way to Ruifang Train Station. Oh yeah, I was not properly dressed. The northern part of Taipei is really cold so be warned! There were not many seats either, so be sure to grab hold to your seat if you manage to find one.

At Ruifang, go to the self-automated machines to purchase your tickets for travelling on the Pingxi line. I think you have a choice if you want to buy a one-off ticket to one station or the full fare option  known as 全票, which means you will enjoy unlimited number of times being ferried to each of the stations on the line.

We only went to Jingtong and Pingxi, because they are the more popular ones or rather these are the only stations where we get to see stuff according to my research.

In the end, we did not trek all the way in to Shifen Waterfall as it would take quite long.

Spent a long time at Jingtong.

This auntie here is quite well-known. Heard some Hong Kees saying that they saw variety shows with her in it. She claimed to be the first to set up the sky lanterns or what. But she didn't seem quite friendly after Lin tried to haggle price haha.

The Lovers' Bridge can also be found in this station.

No lover also can take photo right. Hoho.

I swear it sure is cold. My freezing legs.. Lin kindly lent me her cardigan haha.

Oh ya, pricing wise, if I don't remember wrongly, prices in Pingxi are better since Shi Fen is the more attractive place.

In our itinerary, we also planned to go Mr J's Secret Restaurant. However, the 3.15pm train did not come and there was no announcement. So we waited until 4 plus and so the plan was overwritten -.-

The train schedule. Do plan your time to leave in advance.

I then decided to 放天燈。Lin did not want but gave in to me in the end. Hohoho. I think the sky lanterns cost like NT400 for one. Different colours signify different wishes.

Haha my ugly handwriting.

Up, up and away!

On the train back to Songshan, or some other station where we would later change to go to Shilin Market, heard the familiar heavily taste of Singaporean accent.. Haha. Harlow! Lao niang here also Singaporean! Hehehe.

Shilin Night Market 士林夜市

Had the usual must-tries.

Oh yup! It was here at the Shilin Night Market that I was pretty worried that my handphone will go out of battery! Managed to know this girl online who happened to be in Taiwan at the same time so we decided to meet hahah. We are all friendly people. An experience to know people like that ah. Haha. We shopped around together and talked like we have known each other damn well hahaha. She came to Taiwan to do voluntary work, alone. Damn cool right. I know I will eventually do that too. Hehehe.

So yay. We were slightly lost as we walked to the other side of the night market and were pretty woried that public transport would ceased soon. Our new friend decided to take a cab back to the hostel while Lin and I sprinted to the MRT station once we know our way.

And we made it.

Hoho. That concludes day 5!
